Through the Ages

Coco Gordon is a painter, papermaker, sculptor, photographer, poet, and performance artist. Born in 1938 in Genoa, Italy, she made New York her home for most of her life. Coco currently resides and works at the foothills of the Rockies in Lyons, Colorado. Click the images below to view works from each period, along with various projects and series.

CocoGo

a.k.a. SuperSkywoman

Coco Gordon is an American artist whose works over seventy years extend beyond painting, papermaking, and sculpting to bookmaking, mail art, poetry, performance art, and fashion. A member of the Fluxus group of avant-garde artists, Gordon is best known for her inventive techniques with sculptural elements that relate back to nature. Coco’s works have been collected by the Museum of Modern Art, Fogg Museum of Art, Smithsonian Institution, and the Whitney Museum. In 2019 and 2020, she was awarded an artist residency at the Emily Harvey Foundation in Venice, Italy.

Gordon lives and works in her self-designed and ecologically-built Artbox in Lyons, Colorado.
